Let me introduce myself.  My name is Kristy and I do independent rescue of dogs and cats mainly from the high kill shelter in my city.  Through donations from a handful of wonderful people I am able to fund the vet care for most of my rescues.  The animals I pull are usually hours away from the gassing chamber.  I take them to my house, quarantine them for 10-14 days, then fully vet them and adopt them out.  I have met some really wonderful animals this way and some wonderful people.    Rescue is a side hobby of mine as I do have a full time job and two young children so bare with me as this site is put together.  I hope to have pictures up of all the animals I have looking for their forever homes soon.

Animals Looking for Homes- all these cats have been adopted. New pets coming soon

Cats

Zeuss, large male brown tabby, 3-4yrs old.  This is a heck of a sweet cat that weighs about 14 pounds.  He loves nothing more then laying around and being petted.  He has been with me only about 2 months but really holds a special place in my heart.  He loves kids, is fine with dogs, and great with other cats.

Raven, female tortoise shell, 1 yr old.  In case you don't know, tortoise shells are black and orange.  She is a beautiful specime of this type of cat.  She loves dogs, kids, and is great with other cats. She is very much a lover and got my attention at the shelter by reaching her paw out to grab my shirt. She got numerous compliments from people at my vet's office.

Murray, male brown tabby but not your typical tabby.  He is stunning.  I would guess him to be about 2 years old.  He is fully vetted and ready for a new home. He is great with other cats and kids but does not like dogs.

Angel, male pure bred Himalayan.  This is one gorgeous cream color cat.  He is nearly 10 years old and his owners decided they no longer wanted him as he did not get along with their new Yorkie.  He is a bit anti social so would need to be given some extra attention to bring him out of his shell. He is declawed in front so definitely needs to be an indoor only cat.

Tink (short for Tinkerbell), female brown and white tabby.  She is a love bug. Probably only about 1 1/2 yrs. old.  She gets along fine with other cats but is a little scared of dogs but does okay with them.  She really gets along well with children.

Midge, male all black stubbed tailed cat. He is only 6 months old and loves to rub on everybody, even the dogs.  He is good with children and cats.  I don't know how he ended up at the shelter but this is really one cool dude.

 Dogs

Dudley, male 2 year old black and white lab mix.  He is very friendly but does like to jump up and tell you hi.  For this reason, I would like to find him a home that has kids over 5 yrs. old. He is house broken and gets along with most other dogs.  He is also wonderful with cats.  Please give this wonderful dog a chance.

Sadie, female akita/collie mix. This is one pretty girl.  She also loves to greet you by jumping on you but settles down after a few minutes. This sweet girl is about 2 years old, fully vetted and spayed and looking for a home where she can be exercised either through walks or by running around a nice big yard.  She gets along with her other doggy companions but most of them are males.  I would recommend that she go to a home with male dogs or no other dogs as she has some issues at times with female dogs.

Cody, male black and white lab mix. This dog has been with me since he was about 4 months old. He is over a year old now and would love to find that special home.  He is very energetic and quite a submissive dog. He gets along with everybody and loves kids but is a little too active for young children.  He gets along fine with cats and with a little training will be an absolutely wonderful dog.

 Special Needs Cats

Snowflake, is a very sweet, pure white domestic short hair that is super affectionate. What is her problem?  She has the leukemia virus.  It is deadly and highly contagious so she has to go to a home with no other cats or other leukemia positive cats.  Snowflake is about 2 yrs. old

Max, is a very special cat indeed.  He is positive for the feline immunodeficiency virus as well as leukemia.  He is a very big orange tabby that loves nothing more then to be petted and loved on. He gets along well with his other leukemia positive roommates but due to his illness, must go to a home with other leukemia positive cats or no other cats. Max is believed to be about 3 yrs. old.  He is truly wonderful.  Max came from the Memphis Humane Society.

Hamlet, is another leukemia positive cat. He is about 5 mos.  old and was picked up as a stray, brought to a vet for vacs and testing, and unfortunately tested positive for leukemia. Knowing that I take in these special cats, I was contacted as his only hope for a life as the only other option was euthanasia.  This boy is extremely playful and shows no signs of illness whatsoever.  He acts like your typical kitten and loves to be petted but watch out, he likes to pretend you are his prey and will playfully attack.  He needs  a home where he is the only cat or can be with other leukemia positive cats.

Harlo, this is one sweet girl.  She came from the same vet as Hamlet and is about 1 yr old.  Her story is the same as well, was picked up as a stray and brought in for testing and tested positive for leukemia.  Harlo loves attention and affection also.  She is the first to greet me when I go out to the building to feed and check on them.  She needs a special home where she can receive the love she deserves and where she can be the only cat or live with other leukemia positive cats.  She is a beautiful medium haired marbled tabby (brown)

Special Needs Dogs

Cammie, female black lab.  She unfortunately developed Dystemper and has some neurological issues as a result.  She can run and play and loves to hang out in the house but she has constant spasms in her back legs making them twitch and has some jaw spasms also which makes her appear to be chewing gum.  She needs to be on puppy food and fed twice a day as she loses weight very quickly.  She is very sweet and loving and is available for adoption through ARFLa. She is probably no longer on their site so if you are interested contact me.

I can be reached by email for the time being at klmbean@cox.net
