Kristy's Critter Kingdom

I am not yet a non profit group.  I exist soley by donations from a select group of people who have a heart as big as mine but fortunately a pocket book that is bigger.  Nearly all the animals I have, come from my local animal shelter.  Since the devestating hurricanes Katrina and Rita the entire state has seen an influx and a boom in animal numbers.  Rescue has become a daunting task with little place to house these individuals.  All local rescues are full so we look to out of state organizations to help place these needy animals.  Unfortunatley due to lax spay/neuter laws the humungous pet overpopulation problem has soared nationwide.  Millions upon millons of companion animals are euthanized each year because there just aren't enough homes.  My ultimate goal is to somehow bring a low cost spay and neuter program to our area so hopefully the overpopulation problem can be minimized.

Company history
I have only really become involved with individual rescue since April of 2006 when a plea was sent out over a local rescue list for foster homes for animals that were slated to be euthanized. They were only asking for homes for 2 months so I jumped on board. Two months quickly became 8 and I thought there was no hope of me ever moving my crew out. But due to a wonderful program in Arizona, all my fosters were able to leave in one fair swoop. It was in December of last year and the best Christmas present I could get.(It meant I could travel out of town for the holidays).  I took a much needed break for a couple of months(at least from dogs, still had lots of cats) and am now back in it, full force.   Prior to this I volunteered my time in the dog kennels at Lafayette's biggest non profit animal rescue group, Lafayette Animal Aid. It all is very time consuming work but the rewards of finding homes for animals you know would have been  killed by gassing then  incinerated make it all worth it in the end.
